Another day on the road

I am off to Lancaster today to pick up a beautiful male Akita.  The Lancaster shelter is terribly overcrowded and there are many other dogs there besides Akitas that need help.  We wish we could help them all, but at least we can help one or two.

This Akita is Rinji -- He is a one year old red Japanese style male Akita.  I can't wait until we have some non-jail pics of him.

This Akita is Devin.  He will be at the shelter until next week and can be adopted directly from there, otherwise we will be taking him into rescue.

The Lancaster Shelter is located at:

5210 W. Ave. I
Lancaster, CA 93536
(661) 940-4191
Hours:
Monday – Thursday 12:00 PM – 7 PM
Friday – Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Closed Sundays and Holidays

Even if you don't want an Akita, there is a dog for everyone.  They have big dogs, little dogs, puppies, and adult dogs, all who are in grave danger of being put to sleep just because they have nowhere to go.

Psst -- here's a little money-saving tip since times are tough -- if you see a dog you want to adopt that is in the shelter, go and adopt the dog BEFORE it's taken into rescue.  We don't mind, our goal is to get the dogs into homes!  This can possibly save you a couple hundred bucks since once we get the dog, we have to pay for vet care, boarding, food, and anything else the dog needs and we ask for a donation to cover our expenses.  Believe me, we lose money on every single dog we take in since the expenses are usually much more than the donations we get.  NON-PROFIT is definitely the operative word.
